Despite Tesla’s extensive promotional efforts for the limited rollout, which involved pro-Tesla influencers showcasing the paid ride service, the very footage intended to highlight the technology’s capabilities has instead drawn the attention of the NHTSA. These videos appear to demonstrate the Robotaxis’ struggles in complying with fundamental traffic laws, raising significant concerns about their readiness for wider deployment.
Among the most troubling incidents captured on video was a Robotaxi misjudging a left turn, briefly entering an oncoming traffic lane, and then correcting its course over a double yellow line. Another clip featured a pro-Tesla YouTuber praising the car for exceeding the speed limit, a clear violation of traffic regulations.
