Senator Elizabeth Warren has reached out to JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, seeking clarification on the bank’s previous interactions with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Her inquiry comes amid renewed examination of past communications involving Epstein, which have come under scrutiny once again.
In her letter, Warren is requesting specific information about whether Dimon or JPMorgan Chase sought or received advice from Epstein while they were lobbying against a proposed UK tax targeting bankers’ bonuses. This request follows the release of documents highlighting a 2009 email that mentioned discussions involving Epstein, former UK minister Peter Mandelson, and JPMorgan.
JPMorgan Chase has firmly denied any inappropriate relationship with Epstein. The bank clarified that Dimon never met Epstein and did not participate in decisions related to Epstein’s accounts. According to the bank, they severed ties with Epstein in 2013 and asserted that they would not have continued their business relationship had they been aware of Epstein’s ongoing criminal activities.
The situation has reignited questions about JPMorgan Chase’s historical connections to Epstein. However, the bank remains steadfast in its position that any implication suggesting Dimon consulted with or communicated with Epstein is false.
